SoftBank Secures $40 Billion Loan to Boost OpenAI Investment and AI Ambitions E-Governance

SoftBank Group Corp. has secured a $40 billion bridge loan from leading global lenders, including JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, and Mizuho Financial Group, to strengthen its investment in OpenAI and advance broader corporate goals. The unsecured loan is scheduled to mature in March 2027 and builds on SoftBank’s earlier $30 billion commitment to OpenAI through Vision Fund 2.

This strategic move reflects founder Masayoshi Son’s vision to position SoftBank at the forefront of the global artificial intelligence race. Both SoftBank and OpenAI are key contributors to the Stargate Project, an ambitious initiative aiming to invest up to $500 billion over four years in AI infrastructure across the United States.

OpenAI, also backed by Microsoft, continues to attract strong investor interest following the widespread adoption of ChatGPT, reinforcing confidence in the future of AI-driven innovation.
