Leadership
JioStar, the media and entertainment joint venture between Reliance Industries Limited and The Walt Disney Company, has appointed renowned American screenwriter and producer Stephan Vladimir Bugaj as the Head of Generative AI Content Strategy. The appointment underscores the company’s growing commitment to leveraging artificial intelligence to transform content creation and storytelling.
As part of its AI-driven expansion, JioStar plans to recruit approximately 80 AI specialists, engineers, and creative technology professionals to strengthen its capabilities in next-generation media production.
The move follows the strong performance of the company’s AI-generated series, Mahabharat: Ek Dharmayudh, which reportedly attracted 6.5 million views on its first day, significantly exceeding the platform’s average viewership and highlighting the growing audience interest in AI-powered entertainment.
Building on this momentum, JioStar is developing an ambitious slate of projects created entirely using AI technologies. These include the television series Makaraj, the feature film Hanuman inspired by the Ramayana, and several short-form micro-dramas, signaling a new era of innovation in digital content creation.
